Sok od bazge / Elder Juice

Bazga.

Elder is a plant and you can find it anywhere here in Croatia. From elder flowers we can make nice juice (syrup). I love to combine it with lemonade.

This is first time that I made it. I even have mine own label. Isn't that cool gift or what!?!?

RECEPT (hvala Josipi što mi ga je proslijedila):
Sastojci:
  • 20 srednje velikih cvjetova bazge
  • 2 l vode
  • 2 kg šećera
  • 4 dag limunske kiseline
Priprema:
Cvjetove bazge operite i umiješajte u hladnu prokuhanu vodu. Ostavite tako da stoje 20 sati (može slobodno i duže). Povremeno ih promiješajte žlicom. Sve procijedite kroz gusto cjedilo, cvjetove bacite i umiješajte šećer i limunsku kiselinu. Ulijte u boce i hermetički zatvorite. Čuvajte na hladnom mjestu.

HOW TO MAKE ELDER JUICE:

What do you need:
  • 20 flowers of elder
  • 2 l of water
  • 2 kg of sugar
  • 4 dag of Citric Acid
How to:
Wash flowers of elder and pour it in cold boiled water. Leave it like that for 20 hours.  Mix occasionally with a spoon. Strain it all through thick sieve. You can throw away flowers. Add sugar and citric acid. Pour into bottles and seal tightly. Store in a cool place.

Osušila sam desetak cvjetova bazge za čaj. Navodno je jako ljekovit a blagog okusa.

I even dried some elder flowers for tea. Some people say that it is good for our health.

I'm linking up on those lovely parties.

  4. I LOVE this stuff! Many, many memories from many, many summers spent in Slovenia.
There's an elderflower bush growing not too far away (living very urban as we do, I will sort of have to commit robbery and nip off flowers that are growing across somebodies' garden fence, better wait for darkness to fall!) and I will make this syrup as soon as I have managed to harvest the supplies. Thanks a lot for the recipe!

  6. I've tried elder flower cordial and I love it. I think it would be hard to find the flower over here in Australia but you have reminded me to look out for the cordial again!
